Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy

Equitrans Midstream is committed to achieving the highest level of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) excellence. This commitment is rooted in the value we place on the well-being of our employees, contractors, and communities, and includes our steadfast belief in environmental stewardship. As the foundation of our culture, each and every day our Core Values of Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, Transparency, and Excellence are reflected in our behaviors and decision-making.

Core Values |The principles that guide our behaviors and decisions

Compliance is just a start. We are committed to responsible operations that will safeguard the environment and protect the health of our employees, contractors, and communities – always.
Doing the right thing.
We will act ethically and demonstrate accountability for our actions, behaviors, and decisions. If something goes wrong, we will own it and make it right.

A reliable partner inside and out. We will cultivate an inclusive, respectful work environment that values differing perspectives and encourages the power of teamwork, customer service, and accountability.

Communication is key. We will listen and clarify understanding before acting. We will communicate openly with each other – and with our customers, shareholders, and other external stakeholders.

In all we do and how we do it. We will operate in relentless pursuit of flawless execution to develop employee capabilities, produce high-quality work and achieve sustainable results. We will keep our commitments.

SCOPE:

All employees, contractors, and vendors of Equitrans Midstream Corporation and each of its subsidiaries (collectively, Equitrans Midstream or Company).

POLICY DETAILS:

Equitrans firmly believes that the successful operation of our business is not a right – it is a privilege that we must earn every day. Our leaders and contractors are accountable for HSE performance; however, the implementation of our HSE program is the responsibility of everyone. As an extension to our HSE efforts, our Environmental Justice Policy affirms Equitrans’ commitment to supporting the communities where we live and work, while providing reliable energy infrastructure in a safe, efficient, and responsible manner and providing for the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people in any public process involving our operations regardless of race, color, national origin, or income. Continuously improving HSE performance, engaging stakeholders, supporting the communities in which we operate, and publicly reporting our results are essential in maintaining our social license to operate.

We believe that Zero Is Possible – and protecting our employees, communities, and the environment from harm is a value that will not be compromised. Our HSE Principles are to be followed in accordance with the requirements of our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and these principles will guide us as we strive to make zero a reality each day.

Health and Safety Principles:

  • The causes of injuries and incidents can be eliminated.
  • Working safely each day requires constant vigilance and strict adherence to procedures.
  • The responsibility for safety is universal and exercising Stop Work Authority to ensure a safe working environment is a requirement.
  • We integrate HSE considerations into planning, design, construction, and operation of all our processes, programs, and facilities.
  • Safety is evergreen. We actively monitor HSE performance, incident causes, and trends to drive improvement in designs, equipment, programs, processes, and training.
  • Caring for the safety and health of our employees extends beyond the workplace. Off-the-job safety is critical to building, maintaining, and embedding a proactive safety culture.

Environmental Principles:

  • It is our responsibility to manage and minimize our impacts on society and the environment. We will plan, build, and maintain our network of pipelines and related facilities in compliance with environmental regulations and the best practices of environmental stewardship.
  • We strive to minimize the environmental impact of our operations and implement continuous improvement of best practices in all areas of water management, air emissions, natural resources, and spill prevention and response, as well as biodiversity considerations.
  • In accordance with our Climate Policy, we are committed to achieving measurable improvements to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our operations.
  • In accordance with our Biodiversity Statement, we are committed to meeting or exceeding all relevant local, state, and federal standards in biodiversity protection, including the pursuit of objective, science-based solutions to develop best management practices that preserve, protect, and improve critical biodiverse resources.
  • Maintaining environmental compliance applies to every acre of land, every community, and every region where we have operations.
